1883-1884

Photography is an incredible thing and can serve many purposes. Recently I had the chance to digitize a journal from 1883-1884. Because of the age of the journal it can't be handled a lot or it will completely fall apart. We wanted to preserve the look and feel of the journal in a way that can continue to be passed around to family to read and touch. So we digitized it and had it printed into a book.

I just love the handwriting. This was a little tricky since the book couldn't be opened to lay flat and he wrote across both pages. Today if we were to write in a book or journal we write on the left page then move to the right. Since this wasn't the case I had to make sure there was room to read across the gutter of the page.
