a perfect rainbow

Little Miss M's family often refers to her as their rainbow. It seems so fitting since that's exactly what she is a reflection of light. I loved working with her and watching her meticulous hands break into her birthday cake. She was definitely loving the icing. Hopefully she didn't get too sick after being introduced to so much sugar at once.

Lots of hair and curls

I'm in love with all of this amazing hair. Isn't it funny how people like me with very fine thin hair wish we had more thick hair. And if we have curly hair we wish it was straight and whatever we don't have we want. I adore these curls and at 4 months look at how long and thick the baby's hair is.

I had so much fun with these two girls. Have I mentioned that I love 2 year olds. Since I have one eof my own I know they have to do things there way. This is the age where reverse psychology comes into play. "Whatever you do don't smile." "Don't sit by your sister." Believe it or not that totally worked with this almost three year old beauty and I love it.

Soccer Star

This guy was a champ to work with.  When I do a photo session I take lots of pictures. Sometimes I'll take 3-6 of the same shot. With kids this is an effort to get a smile with the eyes open so going through the pictures afterwards is pretty quick.  With Gio I did the same sequence of shots but in every shot I would get a different equally hilarious expression. It made it a little more difficult to decide on what pictures to keep and edit. Here is a sampling of his photo session.

Usually I don't have my kids with me when I do a photo session but for this one I did. Gio was so excited to have Maven there he just wanted to play so we let them play at the park afterwards.

Maven is 2 and still learning how to interact and play with other kids. A playdate with Maven usually starts out with him being very excited about other kids. They will run around for a while but as soon as toys come out Maven is starting to be very possessive. Once we get the sharing issues worked out it's usually just a few kids playing with toys next to each other.

Gio is a year older than Maven. He is such a great kid. Instead of fighting over a specific toy with Maven he would play with Maven and share the same toy. He was more interested in playing with Maven than the toy. There were no sharing issues just a nice calm play date. I was very impressed with how well they played together.

Hopefully Maven learned a little something from Gio. It wont be long before 3 month old Canon will want to play with Maven and I can only hope Maven starts to pick up on this amazing skill that Gio has.

Rainbow cake and dress ups

I love the "cake smash" it's always so much fun. Especially when an adorable rainbow cake is involved and this little cutie. These two girls are adorable I love watching the big sister/little sister interaction. They will be friends for life.

Personality

As a child photographer I understand that the first and most important shot for the mom is getting a gorgeous natural smile but I like to go beyond that. As I'm watching my 3 month old grow so quickly and trying to remember my 2 1/2 year old at different stages I realize there is a lot more to their developing personalities than that natural smile. When I have a Child Session I want to freeze time for mom so she can look back and remember everything about that stage in their lives.

This little miss was a prime example of capturing personality. When I look through her pictures I see a fun, energetic and playful little girl with a little sass.  She is at such a fun stage where her personality is  starting to shine.

Protective Big Brother

Mr. J wasn't so sure he wanted to have his picture taken. He wasn't too fond of me at first. So we started with his gorgeous little sister. As he watched me take pictures of her he started to get protective and decided he wanted to be with her. It was so cute watching the two of them interact. She is one lucky girl to have a big brother who is always looking after her.

I loved having an older brother. Good thing he doesn't read this blog because I would never want him to know I said this. I even loved in high school when he tried to threaten the boys that would talk to me. I always knew he was looking after me and I thought it was great even though it was embarrassing at times.
